Sewing in 2014

I wanted to recap some of my sewing adventures in 2014.  First of all I moved into Heidi's bedroom as she got married and moved into the Carriage House.  I love the space and it has become my happy place.  Not only do I sew and quilt in my new "Studio Q" but I also journal, paint, watch TV and just hang out.  Here are a few pictures of the items I made in 2014.

This first picture is of a picnic quilt that I made for Heidi for Christmas.  I took some of her old volleyball and school T-shirts and made a quilt that she can take to the park and have a nice place for her and Felix to sit.  It is very comfortable and really cute.  Heidi loved it.

These next pictures are of the Messenger Bags that I made for Mark and Clint.  Not only did I LOVE making these bags, but they turned out great.  I used the Colette Walden Pattern and made the bags with waxed canvas.  I learned a lot about needle selection as a regular needle would not go through the material.  Also, I made Mark's while we had warm weather and the fabric was much easier to work with.  Mark's bag is blue and gray.  Clint's bag is blue and brown.

Here is my precious grandson hanging out in his new tent.  He actually giggles when he is playing in the tent.  So cute.  I made this tent using a pattern by Meg McElwee and her book Growing Up Sew Liberated.  I got together with my principal/friend Jane Doney and we each made one for our grandchildren.  This was a great project.
